The MVE program for Fall 2010 has been expanded to offer a wide range of classes tailored to your fitness needs: Level 1, Powerhouse, HardCORE, Cardio Interval, and Fitness Sculpt.
Classes are limited to five participants for more individualized instruction.
Also new for Fall, the Madison Y is offering a special MVe Discount:
Members signing up for MVE who register for one ten-week class or two five-week classes only pay for nine classes, a 10% discount!

MVe Fitness Level 1 has been rescheduled from Tuesdays at 4:30pm
to Mondays at 4:30pm in the Studio.
WillPower & Grace Group Exercise Specialty Class

Fitness Center Orientations
When you become a new member at the Madison Area YMCA you are entitled to three free orientations with a trained fitness center staff person. They will familiarize you with the cardiovascular equipment as well as set you up on the FitLinxx Circuit. After the orientations you will have the confidence to exercise in the Fitness Center on your own. The fitness center is fully staffed during hours of operation to assist members with all related questions and concerns.

Member Activity Pass (MAP)
Non members may purchase a ten visit punch card for a $52 fee that includes access to Zumba Gold, 4-Ever Fit 1, General Conditioning, and Senior Fitness classes. It is a superb way for fitness-seekers, fitness novices, and/or seniors to get started on a path to healthier living.

Wellness Wednesdays NEW!
Our fitness center is open to MAP members from 12:00-2:30 pm on Wednesdays. This small group will be able to use the cardio or strength machines. The small group gives the opportunity for socialization and support. Available to MAP members only, participants must wear lanyards.

4-Ever Fit
Low to moderate levels of fitness welcome, this class combines cardio conditioning with muscle toning and stretches.
Abs, Back and Core
Strengthen these 3 key areas to help keep your body stable and balanced. This 15-minute class is a good complement to Cardio Jam.
AM Interval Express NEW!
An Interval Class designed to boost your metabolism by combining short bursts of cardio with strength training. This class will use a variety of fitness tools including resistance bands, stability balls, medicine balls, gliders and free weights.
Aqua Fit
Uses a variety of water equipment to build resistance and tone muscles. The result is a great cardio workout!
Beginner Step - will resume in Fall 2010
Beginner Step is taught at a slower pace with simple moves and lots of repetition then progressing to basic patterns. This class will provide the background necessary to have confidence in a mainstream step class.
Body Shop - will resume in Fall 2010
A class designed to boost your metabolism using a variety of fitness tools including resistance bands, stability balls, medicine balls, gliders and free weights.
Body Sculpt
A class designed to firm your muscles! Body Sculpting develops muscle strength and endurance while accentuating overall muscle tone. Various types of resistance equipment used.
Boot Camp
A knockout workout! This high-intensity, one-hour interval class uses calisthenics, jump ropes, weights, and other equipment to bring your fitness level to its next level.
Boot Camp Interval
Alternate intense cardio power-moves with some strength power-moves, for a high-energy class. This style of boot camp will definitely help you get into shape!
Box-N-Kick
A knockout approach to cardiovascular conditioning. Classes incorporate the choreographed moves of a boxer with a punch of kick boxing movements.
Cardio Jam
Be prepared to sweat! This class offers an intense, high-energy aerobic workout that keeps your heart rate up and your body working hard.
Cardio Tai Boxing
Kickboxing with a twist. An intense class full of kickboxing combinations, with a mind body fusion of Tai Chi.
CSI Madison (Core Strength Interval)
Add some kick to Body Sculpt and you get a powerful interval workout. Using weights and resistance exercises, participants get a great workout that tones and strengthens the entire body.
Funky Functional NEW!
This class strives to increase core strength which in turn, improves athletic performance and balance. Integrated aerobic, strength, core, and balance exercises are emphasized through the use of a stability ball, bosu, glider disks, medicine balls, dumbbells and other equipment.
Fusion
Are you ready for a workout challenge? This well-balanced training program expands on strength, movement, and other modes of exercise to increase energy and endurance.
General Conditioning
Great for all levels of fitness, this combination class of cardio conditioning and toning is easy to follow and leaves you feeling energized.
Beginner Indoor Cycling
This beginner’s class is designed to initiate members new to indoor cycling. This class will give you the confidence to join in a typical indoor cycling class.
Indoor Cycling
Studio-based intense cardiovascular workout suitable for all levels; simulates outdoor riding.
Class reservations are required. All others are on a first come, first serve basis.
Teen Indoor Cycling
Pedal to the hottest beats at our new teen cycling class. First-come, first-served. This one fills up fast so be on time! Thursdays from 5:00-5:45pm in the Cycle Room.
Joy
Moderate intensity, highly choreographed cardio routines with prescribed music and basic floor work. With new routines every 10 weeks, it’s not hard to understand why regulars keep coming back!
Jump Interval NEW!
A playground style workout! This class is so much fun you'll forget you're exercising. Alternate heart pumping cardio "jump" songs with drills, games and more. Ropes not required.
Pilates
Mat fitness for the mind and body. Learn postures and movements that improve muscle stabilization, body alignment, and sense of motion to help build a strong, functional body.
Power Moves
Not your basic body sculpt…the high intensity moves will keep you fit. Keep your heart rate up while toning your entire body.
Senior Fitness
A gentle yet challenging class for participants looking to start or maintain a fitness regime. This one-hour class is geared toward all fitness levels and abilities. Non-members: $52/10 classes.
Senior Water Works
Similar to Aqua Fit but designed to address the special cardio, muscular, and stretching needs of this audience.
Step Aerobics
Give variety to your workout with a high-impact step workout. Various levels of choreography as well as "power" moves. Strengthens and tones legs and buttocks.
Step & Hi/Lo
A 45-minute class that offers both Step Aerobics as well as Hi/Lo combinations.
Teen Rock Your Body
Jumpstart your performance with a rockin’ class geared to every teen from those who want to be fit to the competitive athlete. Each class includes cardio to get you moving and strength exercises that focus on toning your upper body. You KNOW you wanna be fit!
Yoga
Whether you’re looking to de-stress or simply have a good stretch, this class is for you. Moving through a series of flowing positions, participants increase strength, flexibility, balance, and concentration.
Zumba
A dance based fitness craze. Great for people of all ages and all abilities. Infectious music,
easy-to-follow dance moves, and body beautifying benefits. This class is taught by a Licensed Zumba instructor. Cross-trainer sneakers or Dance shoes/sneakers are highly recommended. Running shoes/sneakers are not recommended for Zumba. Socks without shoes or barefeet are not permitted.
Zumba Gold - will resume in Fall 2010
A lower intensity dance based fitness class combining exciting Latin Rhythms with easy to follow steps. This class is designed for the active older adult, the true beginner and/or people who may be limited physically. Come join the fun! This class is taught by a Licensed Zumba Gold instructor. Non-members: $52/10 classes.
