YMCA Home Meet Resoponsibilities
We will be hosting 4 home YMCA meets this year. Since we have a small team each familiy will be required to staff three meets. Each of these meets will have a Coordinator who is responsible for organizing the parents listed for that day.
There were a couple of situations that occurred last year. If you are scheduled to work
even if your gymnast is not competiting you are responisble to switch with another parent or work the meet.
Parents will need to bring in your assigned food at 12:00am and must stay to help set up and run the
meet. If your child is competing in the meet it is your responsibility to stay and help with the clean
up. If you are unable to work the day you are assingned it is your responsibility to switch with another
family.
Meet Jobs: Coordinator will organize food, runners & flashers for all home meets
Assigned Jobs: Concession, Door, 50/50 Raffle, Food donation-All, Clean up-All
Communication is one of the most difficult things to handle due to the large number of gymnasts on the team. I will communicate to the parents through e-mail; so please try to check your e-mail at least twice a day. When I send out an e-mail it's usually to no less than 20 contacts, so please make sure I’m in your address book so I don’t get lost in your spam folder. I will be asking for a volunteer from each team to go between me and the parents so nothing gets lost between the cracks. Best time to reach us by phone is between 1:00 and 3pm. We have a phone in the gym -- extension is 2260. Please do not call the gym unless it is an emergency, if I start receiving too many phone calls in directly in the gym I will have to have it blocked. This number is for emergencies only.

Gymnastics Team Parent Orginaztion
Quota
Quota is the fee that is paid once each year to the Madison Gymnastic Team Parent Organization (GTPO). The amount of the fee is based on the team your gymnast’s is on. The fee needs to be paid in full by February 1, 2010. You are welcome to pay it in installments so that it is not a burden all at once. If you wish to pay in installments please make sure you mark your check or envelope that it is for Quota so we can apply it correctly. This fee is used to cover things like new equipment used by the team, various gymnastic parties, end of the year banquet, and senior scholarships. These items are things that only relate to the gymnastics team and not to regular classes. The GTPO Board and Ellen are responsible for the GTPO budget. Cheryl Smith is the current treasurer and she is in charge of collecting quota. If you have any questions please give her a call she will be more than willing to answer any question you may have.
Fundraising
During the year we have a variety of fundraisers. Fundraisers are not mandatory; they are a way to help you reduce the cost of your quota. Each fundraiser is run by a parent who volunteers their time to help make our program run smoothly. We will give any material regarding the fundraiser to your daughter after practice. The parent in charge usually sends Ellen an e-mail with specific details which I forward to all team parents, please look at the bottom of the email to see who's running the fundraiser so you can contact them directly if you have any questions.
Team fees are required to be paid every 10 weeks directly to the YMCA. There are two ways you can pay your team fees, you can either come to the YMCA in person or you can register and pay online. If you would like to be able to pay online you must first check in with the YMCA front desk to get an ID and a Password. Your gymnasts must be paid in full on the first day of class. If they are not paid you will putting the coaches and your daughter on the spot as they will not be able to practice and will be required to leave or sit against the wall. The YMCA insurance company requires us to strictly enforce this policy.
A Team - $575
B Team - $575
C Team - $520
Pre Team - $240 (For 1st 10 Weeks) Then added extra practice $419
Pre-Team does not compete during the season but we will have an in-house meet to show parents all that they have accomplished during the year with no pressure.
A, B, and C Teams will be competing in USA meets and YMCA meets. USA meets start around November and YMCA meets start in January. Not all gymnasts will be doing USA meets. We will be hosting six or seven in-house YMCA meets. These meets are run by the parents. One parent from each group will be in charge to organize the rest of the parents to get everything ready for the meet. This includes bring in food, setting up the concession stand, manning the door, selling 50/50 tickets and cleaning up. At least one parent must volunteer their time. Please keep in mind that parents are all volunteers and they should be treated with respect. During meets please do not go up to your child and try to speak to them, the coaches will handle all issues and if we need your assistance we will come to you. If there is a problem with a score or an age group we will handle it, please do not approach the score table or any other coach. This also applies when we're outside of our gym. I will not tolerate any type of disrespect to our parents or parents from other gyms.
Nationals
This year nationals will be held in San Diego, California. Nationals are a big commitment not only for the gymnasts and coaches but also for you as parents. We will decide who will be invited to attend nationals. Scores are not the only determining factor. We will look at attitude and how hard they work in the gym year-round. Every year at Nationals I received a few questions about Level 4 & 5 competitors and if they should be allowed to leave before the Level 8 and 9 team awards. We will make those decisions based on individual circumstances. However, please be aware that the coaches feel strongly that this is a team event and everyone should remain until the end of the Nationals meet. One of our goals is to promote team spirit. This is a major event for us and it is a great way to encourage the team. We don't feel we ask a lot from the gymnasts during the year as far as going to watch their teammates, this is the only time we expect my whole team to be there. It is very important to the gymnasts who make it to finals to have their teammates alongside them to support them and cheer them on. Please remember it is an honor to be chosen to go and that usually after one or two seasons in levels 4 or 5 your daughter may be moved up, we think you would want them to have the support of their teammates. This year we hope to be able to hand out all the information about nationals ahead of time so you will have time to decide if you can make this commitment.
